Privacy
Plainview is built so you can understand your website without collecting anything personal about the people who visit it. This page explains what we record for our customers’ visitors and what we keep about our customers.
Your visitors
We record which page was viewed, the referring website, campaign tags in the link, the visitor’s country, device type, browser and operating system, time on page, scroll depth and which links and buttons were clicked. We do not set cookies, use local storage for tracking, fingerprint devices or store IP addresses.
To count unique visitors, the script’s request is turned into a one-way hash of the IP address, browser string and site, combined with a secret that changes every 24 hours. The original values are thrown away. Yesterday’s hashes can’t be linked to today’s, and the same person on two sites can’t be linked at all.
Our customers
For people with a Plainview account we keep your name, email address, a hashed password and your billing status. Payments are handled by Stripe; we never see your card number. We don’t sell data or use it for advertising.
AI summaries
When written summaries are switched on, only totals for your site (visitor counts, rates and page grades) are sent to Anthropic’s API to write the summary. No visitor-level records are sent.
Deleting data
Deleting a site removes all of its recorded data immediately. To close your account, email hello@j20solutions.com and we’ll remove everything within 30 days.
